Two reasons families come to us

Stronger grades, or a deeper love of language

Reading closely, writing clearly, and communicating with confidence shape how a student performs in every subject. We meet your child wherever they are.

Want results

When a grade slips or a test is coming

Maybe an AP English exam is on the calendar, or an essay keeps coming back marked in red. Our tutors target the exact skills standing between your child and the outcome you want, and they track progress session by session.

Want to learn

When a student is ready to grow

Some students do not need rescuing. They need room to grow. For the reader who devours books and the writer with a story to tell, our sessions sharpen analysis, build vocabulary, and turn interest into real skill.

Most students land somewhere between the two, and that is exactly what one-on-one tutoring is built for.

What we cover

Online English help for every skill, grades 3 to 12

Whether you are searching for an online reading tutor, an ELA tutor, essay writing help, or AP English and test prep, here is exactly how we support your child.

Reading and Comprehension

An online reading tutor who builds real understanding: main idea, inference, vocabulary in context, and analyzing fiction and nonfiction. Ideal for a child who reads but does not retain, and for high schoolers facing tougher texts.

Phonics for Struggling Readers

For developing and struggling readers: decoding, blending sounds, sight words, and fluency. The structured phonics foundation that finally makes reading click and builds lasting confidence.

Writing and Essay Help

From the five-paragraph essay to narrative, expository, and persuasive writing. We teach thesis statements, structure, and revision, plus everyday help with book reports and class assignments.

Grammar, Spelling and Vocabulary

Parts of speech, punctuation, sentence structure, and subject-verb agreement, plus spelling and vocabulary building. The mechanics behind clear, confident writing and speaking.

AP English Tutoring

Targeted prep for AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature: rhetorical analysis, close reading, and timed essay writing that earns points on exam day.

HSPT Test Prep

Preparing for private or parochial high school admissions? We coach the verbal, reading, and language sections of the HSPT so your 8th grader places where they want to be.

SAT and ACT Reading and Writing

The verbal side of the SAT and ACT: evidence-based reading, the grammar rules they test, and a clear strategy for the reading and writing sections that lifts the score.

Homeschool and Charter Language Arts

Flexible, one-on-one language arts for homeschool and charter students. As an approved charter vendor, we can help you put your student allocation to work.

Who we help

Built for grades 3 to 12, open to all

Most children are not quite ready to sit with a tutor until around third grade, but all grades are welcome. We happily work with advanced first and second graders when they are ready, and we support college undergraduates too.

Because we are fully online, we tutor students throughout the United States, scheduling in US time zones so your child always works with the right tutor at a time that fits the family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What grade levels do you tutor for language arts?

Our main focus is grades 3 through 12, but all grades are welcome. We work with advanced first and second graders when they are ready, and we also support college students. Help spans reading, writing, AP English, HSPT, and SAT/ACT prep.

Do you tutor younger children for reading and phonics?

Yes, though most children are not ready to focus with a tutor until around third grade, even with a parent nearby. For advanced younger students, we make exceptions and have successfully worked with first and second graders.

Do you only tutor students in the Burbank area?

No. Because we are fully online, we tutor students throughout the United States. Our local roots are in Burbank, Glendale, Toluca Lake, and Studio City, but families anywhere in the country can work with us.

Are sessions one-on-one or in groups?

Every language arts session is one-on-one, built entirely around a single student’s needs and pace.

Is ELA tutoring the same as language arts tutoring?

Yes. ELA stands for English Language Arts, which is exactly what we teach: reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, and vocabulary. Whether your child’s school calls it English Language Arts or ELA, our tutors cover the full range, grades 3 to 12.

Can tutoring help a child who simply does not enjoy reading?

Yes. Many of our students start out reluctant. Our tutors focus on building skill and confidence first, which is usually what turns reading from a chore into something a child chooses on their own.
