College Bound?

By December 7, 2022 No Comments

Parents: Is there a specific math class (such as calculus or other math class) needed for the major of your college bound student? Will your student be placed in that class? Or will he or she be placed in a preparatory math class – which could significantly increase the cost of their college education due to the need for added semesters?

What if you could find out now, while your student is still in high school, if he or she is properly prepared for the placement of the math class needed and whether or not he or she will likely succeed in its completion?

You can. How? By having your student take the ALEKS PPL in their junior or senior year of high school.

What is the ALEKS PPL? It is a diagnostic and placement test used by over 350 colleges and universities to determine appropriate math class placement.
Click on the link below to watch a short video that explains what the ALEKS PPL is and how it can benefit students:

By taking the ALEKS PPL, your student can find out if he or she is ready for the math class needed for their major or if additional preparatory steps are required. After taking the exam, a study or learning path will be generated for each student based on their answers. Each learning path is unique and specific to the student that took the exam, outlining the exact math topics that need to be learned or reviewed. It is presented in the most efficient sequence possible for maximum knowledge building. Additionally, each topic has practice problems for students to gradually build their skills and confidence. The learning path will be available to students for one full year after taking the exam. They can progress along that learning path on their own and at their own pace.

Normally, a student would have to pay for and enroll into a college or university before taking the ALEKS PPL. However, Success Tutoring Online has been authorized to provide the exact same exam. Note that this is not “similar to” or “like” the ALEKS PPL – it is the exact same exam. We happen to be one of the very few, select businesses authorized to administer this exam outside of a college or university.

So, what does this mean? It means that for a mere $100.00 flat fee (significantly less than the cost of the first year of college), your high school student can take the ALEKS PPL and find out if he or she is qualified, or on track for, the math class needed to follow his or her choice of college majors. Additionally, the student will be provided with their own unique, personalized learning path, as described above, with access for one full year.

If the student would like a tutor from Success Tutoring Online to help with the math topics outlined in their personalized learning path, there would, of course, be a separate cost. But, with all of the math topics specifically outlined and sequentially presented for maximum benefit, students can follow their individualized path on their own and can do as many practice problems as needed. Or they can choose to have one of our tutors help them. The choice is theirs.
